Year 2 loved learning all about Neil Armstrong and why he is important. It was super to see some children using their home learning to share what they had found out. The children partook in 4 workshops. The children learned about how Neil Armstrong collected some moon rocks and bought them back to Earth to be studied. The children had a go at making their own moon rocks with bicarbonate of soda and water. The children then added vinegar to their moon rocks and they started to fizz! It was super fun watching what happened and making their moon rocks completely dissolve by adding more vinegar. Year 2 also explored gravity with magnets and became scientists looking at which force is strong, a magnet or gravity! The children loved using purple mash to complete a news report about Neil Armstrong and also enjoyed some role play pretending to be Neil Armstrong being interviewed after watching the moon landing! What a great start to our exciting new history topic.
